Pray for Belayneh
Please Pray for Mr. Belayneh Webete:
2007
This memo is to introduce the plight of Mr. Belayneh Webete to those who don’t know about him.
Belayneh is a 37 years old man who came to the United States from Ethiopia about six and half years ago. Since he arrived in the Boston area, he had been gainfully employed and worked hard to support himself. He is also a caring young man who was the main support, pride and hope of his single mother and two sisters who reside in Ethiopia . His warm smile and lovable personality touches many of the people who have been privileged to know him.
About three and half year ago, Belayneh started feeling pain on his right shoulder. After consulting with the doctors at Mass General Hospital in Boston, he was informed by doctors that he needed to undergo a surgical procedure to take out a tumor from his right armpit, in order to eliminate the possibility of it becoming cancerous in the future. Heeding the advice of the doctors and hoping to avoid the risk of possible cancer in the future, which may cost him his right arm, he agreed to undergo the proposed surgical procedure and was admitted to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the outcome of the surgery was not what was anticipated by both Belayneh and the surgeons. The operation ended in severe complications, leading to an irreversible blindness and eventual amputation of his right arm from his shoulder. Three years ago, Belayneh was a vibrant, happy, and hard workingman. After the surgery, he has become a man who needed assistance twenty-four hours a day. Mr. Belayneh has been undergoing therapy in Boston getting trained on how to lead the rest of his life as a blind person and with out an arm.
We are grateful for all the love and support many have bestowed upon Belayneh thus far. We were very encouraged and uplifted by the outpouring of Ethiopians and non-Ethiopians who reside not just in Boston area but litterally all over the US and beyond. We have heared from hundreds of people. Many who never knew or met him before expressed their support in many tangable ways. Magazines dedicated their pages, many Ethiopian Radio & TV stations in Washington DC area, Atlanta and Boston area dedicated their air time to introduce the plight of Belayneh. Thank you all so much for what you have done for our brother. Please continue praying for Belayneh as he still needs emotional support. We are committed to helping him manage his day-to-day personal needs. At this stage of his recovery, he does not need any financial or material support but your prayers and emotional support is highly appreciated.
Thank you so much.
God bless you.
